Osteopathy treats a range of health issues including acute pain from injury and trauma, and chronic pain from occupational stress and repetitive strains. Of course, Osteopathy can also be particularly helpful for back pain, and also pain in the neck and shoulders. Osteopathy treats the entire body, and not (necessarily) just the site of injury. Osteopaths may also look for any predisposing factors, and try to prevent recurrence if possible. Osteopathic techniques can often be very gentle (e.g. cranio-sacral treatment) and Osteopaths do not necessarily use manipulation with every patient, only those who prefer this. Osteopathic treatment can be very gentle with massage and stretching only.
