Osteopathy treats the entire body, not (necessarily) just the site of injury. Osteopaths may also look for any predisposing factors and try to prevent recurrence if possible. Osteopathic techniques can often be very gentle (e.g., craniosacral treatment), and Osteopaths do not necessarily use manipulation with every patient, only those who prefer this. Osteopathic treatment can be very gentle with massage and stretching only.
